About Me
I am a multimedia artist currently based in Santa Cruz, CA. I have recently completed my B.A. at University of California Santa Cruz studying Art & Design: Games + Playable Media!
With my work in video games I aim to explore how interactive systems can shape our emotions and perceptions of the world. Throughout my life, I have worked in visual and performance art, which went on to become a major inspiration to how I approach game-making. These became a major source of inspiration for me as I sought to find the type of art I wanted to create. Blender created a space that allowed me to use skills that I had spent building and bring them to life in a digital space. For the past few years I have worked primarily with 3D spaces, in tools such as Blender, Substance Painter and Godot. I am skilled in creating character models, environments and other assets within Blender and am always looking for opportunities to improve upon lighting, mood and stylization in my works. I hope to create games that have strong artistic direction and emotional depth by using color, shape and texture in ways that push against realism and focus on atmosphere and story telling.
My goal as a game designer is to make spaces that players can easily navigate and find meaning in through exploration without the use of words. My work is heavily influenced by my own experiences with identity, mental health and overall representation. Being a Mexican American daughter who grew up in a conservative community, there were not many people who I felt really understood or accepted queer identities and the struggles I faced regarding my identity. These sort of close minded spaces are what have pushed me to aim for more inclusivity in my goals. I want my games to make players feel good, not only about who they are but about how they choose to see themselves and others. I approach games not only as entertainment but as spaces where players can participate in creating personalized experiences through play.
